Hi. I’m Kathryn Jackson. Wife, Mom, Bible reader and Latin teacher.
I wasn’t always a Latin teacher…you might say that I used to be typical. I was a stay-at-home mom trying to manage the basics of life (like brushing my teeth on a daily basis) while raising three small kiddos. But on April 13, 2010, our family was in a horrific automobile accident. My middle daughter, Anne (5 at the time), was airlifted from the scene to the closest Children’s hospital where she underwent emergency brain surgery and wasn’t expected to live through the night.
Despite all odds…she lived!! But when she awoke from her coma, she was a drastically different person. We have experienced grief and profound sadness while missing our “old Anne,” and it has been a painful road to accepting our “new Anne.” However, God has surprised us with joy in the midst of suffering.
This blog is dedicated to our delightful Anne and how God shows up and shines light in our dark places. My hope is that as you read about Anne and our unpredictable life, you will be encouraged. Thanks for tagging along with us!

Let not your heart be troubled. God has many plans for Anne which we are not aware of yet. I know you miss her, as do I, but God intends greatness from her in another way and maybe she could not be that shy, timid, Anne we knew and still accomplish what God has in store. He also has a plan for you and as I have found in my life, sometimes suffering causes greater growth and a more profound sense of what Christ endured. I cannot make the sadness go away but I can tell you that for me Anne’s accident has brought me so much closer to Christ and made Him so much more real in my life. You know I am always here whenever the sadness gets too great or you just need some time off from the harsh reality of the burden of caring for everyone. Know that I care about you and you are not alone.

I love Anne! She has given me patience and more patience. :) My day begins with her reaching out to me, “Mrs. Bush may I have a hug?” She is part of my family, my daughters ask about her everyday. Believe me there is always s great story. I LOVE HER!!
